Soar to New Heights with the PPL + CPL Aviation Diploma Program at WCC Beginning of the Aviation Journey Western Community College invites students to embark on an exciting journey in the world of aviation with their comprehensive Aviation Diploma program. This program is meticulously designed for those who dream of the skies and aim to become industry-ready pilots. Student's Pathway in Aviation: 1. Private Pilot License (PPL): Students can start their flying journey with the foundational skills to navigate the skies. The course requires a minimum of 45 flying hours. The PPL program at WCC is a gateway to the skies, offering the foundational training necessary to fly as Pilot In Command of aircraft up to 12,500 pounds. This license allows students to carry as many passengers as the aircraft is certified for, during daylight hours under visual flight rules. It's the starting point for those pursuing an airline pilot career or those flying for recreational purposes. Note that a PPL does not allow the holder to fly for hire or compensation. Program Duration and Structure 6 to 8 months total duration. At least 45 hours of flight training. At least 40 hours of ground school instruction. 2. Commercial Pilot License (CPL): Students can advance their training with a minimum of 65 flying hours to elevate their qualifications for a career in aviation. The CPL program at Western Community College is a Transport Canada-approved pathway designed to train students for a professional career in aviation. It equips graduates with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to work in Commercial Air Service in Canada. Program Duration Typically completed in 12-14 months. Includes a minimum of 65 hours of flight training and 80 hours of ground instruction. Additional 90 hours of flight time for skill enhancement. 3. Dual Credentials: Successfully completing both licenses gives students a total of over 110 flying hours and dual credentials, placing them at a significant advantage in the aviation job market. Program Highlights: Eligibility for PGWP: Post-Graduation Work Permit allows students to gain valuable Canadian work experience. Duration: Flexible program structure, complete the diploma in 1.5 to 2 years. Training Fleet: Train on a Cessna 172, a renowned and reliable aircraft for pilot training. Authorized IATA Training Centre: WCC is Canada’s only IATA authorized training centre.
